Pettigrew Parks-The Family Who Landscaped Cardiff
Cardiff is known as the ‘City of Parks’ with more
green space than almost any other city of the
same size in the UK . The city has won major international awards for the quality of our parks
and for the environment here. I want to tell you
a story about Cardiff’s parks and how they
were created.

My name is Andrew Pettigrew and I lived a long time ago in
Cardiff. I came from Scotland to work here in 1873 when
Queen Victoria was on the throne. I was the Head Gardener
for the Marquess of Bute, the richest man in the world who
lived at Cardiff Castle, and owned many other parts of Cardiff.
